Art I

Prerequisites: None

Level: All

Credit: 1

 

Description: This is an introductory course that basic elements and principles of art.  Students will have the opportunity to create artworks in a variety of media and will learn how to use tools and processes necessary to produce both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work. Drawing skills are emphasized in this course. Students will be required to complete weekly workbook and sketchbook assignments.


Art II

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Art I or consent of teacher

Level: Sophomore, Junior , Senior

Credit: 1

 

Description: This course is a continuation of Art I.  More emphasis will be placed upon the craftsmanship of the artwork created by the students.  Students will also be expected to explore a broader variety of media for the creation of art than they did in Art I. Students will be required to complete a weekly sketchbook.


Art III

Prerequisite: Art II

Level: Junior, Senior

Credit: 1

 

Description: This course will emphasize material techniques, processes, and other ideas fundamental to drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture processes. Students will be required to keep a weekly sketchbook.


Art IV

Prerequisite: Art III and  teacher consent.

Level: Senior

Credit: 1

 

Description: This course is for the student who is interested in an art career or in an art major or minor in college.  Students will assemble a portfolio for critique.  Students will also work in areas of interest to improve and perfect their technique. Students will be required to keep a weekly sketchbook.
